We are a group of science education professionals, from across Illinois, who have a deep understanding of the Next Generation Science Standards* (NGSS). Many of us have been presenting and/or working on NGSS for a year or more. We have each received numerous requests to assist individual districts with understanding and preparing for NGSS. Unfortunately, since we are practicing educators, our availability is limited during the school year.
For these reasons, we have decided to come together to offer some larger venue workshops on NGSS. While these are larger groups, we typically break into smaller teams, where space permits, to allow for "hands-on" sessions for part of the day. Our goal is to both maximize the presenters' time while still offering the attendee the ability to ask individualized questions in small groups. This format also allows us to bring in other top people from across the state who can give up-to-date information on topics like state adoption and NGSS updates.
This web site is our gateway of information about upcoming workshops and projects, biographical information about the presenters, and will host our workshop materials (both public and attendee only).
2015 NGSS Summer Academy
July 6-10, 2015 - We are offering a week long summer academy to be held at Moraine Valley Community College in Palos Hills, IL. This workshop is designed for K-12 science teachers and administrators who have at least introductory knowledge of the Next Generation Science Standards. This is an in-depth, one week workshop that will give teachers experience in constructing lessons, activities, and assessments that are aligned with the Next Generation Science Standards. For more information or to register visit our workshop page.
